This is the bizarre moment a table at a restaurant explodes when a person sitting at it heats an Austrian Red Bull energy drink bottle underneath.

Surveillance camera footage shows the group of eight chatting over a late-night dinner at a popular restaurant in the city of Bijie, in China’s north-western Guizhou Province, on Saturday, 23rd December.

However, just seconds into the clip the table suddenly exploded, leaving the whole group shocked and checking whether everyone was okay.

The incident followed after one of the people put a bottle of Red Bull under the table to heat it up. It was not disclosed if there was a heater underneath.

When exposed to extreme heat, the pressure inside carbonated soft drink bottles can increase rapidly, leading to an explosion.

Chinese media revealed that a person suffered a foot injury due to the explosion, but did not reveal if they had to be transferred to the hospital.

Meanwhile, netizens on China’s version of TikTok, Doiyin. Did not hold back from commenting after the recording reached the social media platform.

Douyin user ‘The sweet fragrance of Didi, Oo, and Oo has arrived.’ said: “So, what is it down there that heated the drink? A stove? Or an electric heater?”

Then ‘Mountains and flowing water’ commented. “When you are tired or thirsty, drink Red Bull, it will refresh you and wake you up.”

And ‘User 9467388299185’ added: “I guess these guys already celebrated the Chinese New Year.”
