GRAS (Greens and Alternative Students) group members shocked their fellow students when they started giving away vibrators and weed in front of the main building of the University of Vienna, Austria, on Wednesday, 10th May.

The unconventional gifts were reportedly a part of GRAS’ campaign for the Austrian Students’ Association (OeH) elections that took place from 9th to 11th May, 2023.

The nationwide elections reportedly take place every two years.

Prior to the event GRAS said in a statement on Twitter: “Come with us to vote, vibrators + voting in front of the main building of the University of Vienna today.”

But soon after they revealed that they’re all out of sex toys and said: “The vibrators were all handed out within half an hour.

“Of course we are pleased that students have accepted our offer so well, and it will certainly not be our last vibrator distribution campaign.”

A total of 340 vibrators were reportedly given out to the voters, claimed media.

GRAS’ top candidate for the OeH elections, Sarah Rossmann emphasised the importance of orgasms and added that they should not only be reserved for men in hetero relationships.

Rossmann said: “We are distributing vibrators to draw attention to the so-called orgasm gap between the sexes and to set a visible sign for enlightenment and the removal of taboos on women’s sexuality.”

When asked about their cannabis gifts, she said: “Of course, our CBD is legal, and we also think it’s important to have an open discussion about the decriminalization of cannabis.”

In an earlier statement which was obtained by Newsflash, the candidate said: “Reproductive health is increasingly becoming an impossibility for those affected in Austria!

“STDs are still a big taboo subject and it is often considered embarrassing to be affected by them.

“We must finally break this taboo in order to create better education about sexually transmitted diseases and to enable safe treatment for all those who suffer from them.

“Health must not be a luxury!”
